Hello…I'm Dave Payne, The Creator Of The BNW Bistro

I have dabbled off and on with Photography since 1980. Across the years I've used Canon and Nikon film cameras then moved to digital with the Nikon D750. My career got in the way until I retired from corporate Leadership roles and I committed my time back into Photography with the Olympus EM-1 Mark II, then the Ricoh GR II and finally the Fujifilm X-H1 for Color and the X-Pro2  for Black and White using ACROS which I liked...but I wanted a true Monochrome sensor in a full-frame format.

My Photography Journey has undergone a significant directional change with my choice to act upon my love of and interest in Black And White Photography. The way BNW removes distractions, focuses you on the essence of a subject, maintains a timeless feel and emphasizes Light, Shadows, Textures and Shapes captivates me! To that end, I parted ways with all of my Fujifilm Camera bodies and lenses and invested in a Leica Q2 Monochrom which has a dedicated monochrome sensor and the fabulous Summilux 28mm f1.7 ASPH lens.

I'm now working on The BNW Bistro…LOTS MORE TO COME!!
